Well Barns Green Cricket is still flourishing with 2 adult teams and a thriving young players section with 75-plus people aged 8 to 16 playing in 2011. In 2010 Barns Green U13 were the ECB Cup (Sussex) Winners. We always welcome new recruits, so if any young people out there would like to join us then please come along to the village green on Wednesdays 6pm (age up to 10 ) or Fridays 6pm (age 11-14)  or Tuesdays 6pm (age 15-16).

We are currently working towards the ECB's "ClubMark" accreditation which demonstrates that we operate the club to certain minimum standards encompassing equality, safety, codes of conduct, skill development and opportunities for all. If we are successful with this accreditation we should also be able to secure further grant funding for the future development and facilities of the club.

The Cricket Club was formed in 1893 and published a history of the club in 1993 for its centenary. Dennis Silk, then President of the MCC and a Christ’s Hospital old boy wrote -

“I visited the village on my bicycle on a hot Saturday afternoon in May and had my first vision of your idyllic ground in action... It is good, indeed, to know that the old traditions are hallowed and the standards maintained in this cradle of cricket. May Barns Green flourish for many years to come.”
